Taking certain antibiotics will decrease the effectiveness of your birth control pills.  It is impossible to know how much of a decrease of effectiveness has occurred. Antibiotics may decrease the effectiveness enough to allow a “break through” ovulation to occur. This could result in pregnancy if one has unprotected sex. It is best to use condoms during the time that you are on the antibiotics and for at least 7 days after completion of the antibiotics. If this occurred recently, Plan B may be an option.

Continue taking your pills correctly and consistently. If you are still on antibiotics, use condoms for the rest of the cycle. If your next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregnancy test.

The best thing would be for you to discuss this with your ob/gyn doctor. The doctor will be able to recommend the most appropriate treatment option for you at this time.

The only way to know is to do a pregnancy test.

Brown vaginal discharge can be normal, especially at the beginning or end of a period. Dark brown discharge is usually old blood that did come out during the previous period. Additionally, your body need to adjust to not being on the birth control pills anymore, so it may take 1-3 months for normal periods to return on a monthly basis.

If you usually take your pills correctly and consistently, then missing one probably isn’t going to decrease your protection significantly. Hopefully, you were able to make up your missed pill.  Continue to take your pills every day. If you miss more than 2 pills in a row, use condoms or abstain from sex for the remainder of the cycle.

i had sex with my husband with out a condom im on birth control he pulled out an came into a towel cleaned off then went back in me. can i get pregnant?

You don’t mention what type of birth control you’re using. If you use the birth control pills, patch or vaginal ring: as long as you are using your method correctly and consistently, then you are protected. It takes at least 7 days of continuous use for the each of these methods to be effective. If you are using the DepoProvera injection: as long as you have been receiving your injections on time, as scheduled, and are not late, you are protected from pregnancy. The Depo injection is effective 24 hours after the first dose. Each injection is effective for up to 13 weeks.

If you are using the natural family planning method or rhythm method, then your protection may be compromised. If there were any semen left in his urethra, it could’ve leaked out into your vagina. This may contain sperm and could result in pregnancy.

Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy. It takes at least 7 days of continuous use for birth control pills to be effective. If you started your pills on day 3 of your period, this means that you had unprotected sex on day 7 of your cycle. That early in your cycle should be your least fertile time, therefore, the risk of pregnancy is probably low.

Hello, I have a few questions. I have been with my boyfriend for almost 5 years, and we only started having sex about 2 years ago. I’m not sure why, but the only way I am ever able orgasm is in missionary position. Any other position we try I get nothing. I feel so bad because my boyfriend feels like he isn’t doing something right, but I don’t know what it could be. Do you have any suggestions on what we could do? My other question was about the one position we have tried. My boyfriend put my legs on his shoulders to see what it would feel like, and I honestly can’t tell if the feeling is good or not. It almost hurts, and feels like it’s going too deep, and it makes it hard for me to catch my breath. One time I actually felt kind of sick. It almost feels like it’s pushing against my bladder. I have heard some people say it could possibly be the “G Spot” but I’m not so sure…

The Grafenberg Spot, often called the G Spot,  is a bean-shaped area inside the vagina. When stimulated, many women report that is causes pleasurable sensations, strong orgasms and female ejaculation. It may be located approximately 1 to 3 inches up inside the vagina. It sounds easy to locate, but for many, its location is elusive. Much research (since the 1940’s)has been done on this spot. Masters and Johnson showed that clitoral tissue extends along and inside the labia. Their research revealed that more women had orgasms from clitoral stimulation than from vaginal stimulation. Some women, though, when stimulated inside the vagina, did experience orgasm. Other research concluded that the G Spot is actually clitoral tissue that extends inside the vagina, and that stimulation of this tissue must occur inside the vagina in order for vaginal orgasm to occur. However, studies also determined that clitoral and vaginal orgasms follow the same pattern of arousal, so, therefore, are of the same origin.  But, all women are different. Some may have extensive clitoral tissue that is very sensitive inside and out. Other women may not be sensitive inside the vagina, and are more…

Why do I always get wet after I cry, not just a little either, I get pretty wet!?

Comments Off on Why do I always get wet after I cry, not just a little either, I get pretty wet!?

I assume you are talking about vaginal wetness. Vaginal discharge is made and secreted by glands in the cervix and vagina. Discharge is normal, common, and varies depending on your cycle. It is the vagina’s way of maintaining normal pH balance and to clear the vagina of bacteria. During sexual arousal, discharge provides wetness that helps make sex more comfortable and enjoyable for the woman and her partner.

Normal vaginal discharge/wetness is stimulated by arousal. Sexual activity stimulates wetness, but so can other types of arousal. Crying, whether from saddness or happiness, causes our sympathetic nervous system to be stimulated. This is the same system that gives us the “fight or flight” response. Our heart rate and breathing rates increase, our sweat glands are more active. It is normal that the vagina, along with other organs, respond to this.

I had sex with my gf yesterday, one week after her period ended. I came inside of her and my condom slipped off half-way during withdrawal. Should I worry?

If your girlfriend is not using any type of hormonal birth control, then yes, you should worry. If your girlfriend has regular 28 day menstrual cycles, then the unprotected intercourse occurred right around the time of ovulation, a prime time for pregnancy to occur. Have your girlfriend use Plan B as soon as possible but within 72 hours of the unprotected sex. If you are 17 or older, you can purchase Plan B at most drug stores without a prescription. You will need to ask the pharmacist for Plan B as it is located behind the counter. You may also need to show ID to prove your age. Plan B is around $50. If you and your girlfriend are under 17, she will need a prescrition from a doctor. Your girlfriend can also get Plan B from a Family Plannning or Planned Parenthood clinic. We offer Plan B at all of our clinics but are closed over the weekend. We reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Monday.

Next time, grip the base or the rim of the condom while withdrawing the penis from…

i had unprotected sex and he ejaculated jst around my vagina n i washed it out immediately, wat r my chances of getting pregnant n he took antibiotics immediately after what is it supposed to do for him

Pregnancy is possible, but the risk is not high. Pre-ejaculatory fluid can leak out of the penis prior to ejaculation. This fluid can contain sperm which could cause pregnancy. Also, since he ejaculated near the vagina, some of the semen may have entered the vagina before you were able to wash it off. If you miss your next period by a week or more, take a pregnancy test.  Repeat the test every two weeks until you have a normal period or a positive test result.

Regarding your partner’s use of antibiotics, they would have no impact on your risk of pregnancy. You should ask him why he is taking them. If he is taking them for a sexually transmitted infection, then you are at risk for becoming infected also. You should be tested if that is the case. More than likely, he is using antibiotics for some other type of infection unrelated to sex.

If you plan to continue to have sex, please use a reliable method of birth control. Condoms are effective if you use them correctly and consistently. If your…
