If you missed your pill by less than 24 hours, your risk of pregnancy is extremely low, particularly since you also used a condom.

I had unprotected sex on the 19th of February. My boyfriend might have ejaculated a small amount before he pulled out. My last period started on the 6th of February. So I was 13 days into my cycle. I took Plan B twenty hours later. Could I still be pregnant? What is the liklihood?

Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the chance of pregnancy.

When taken within 24-72 hours after unprotected intercourse, Plan B is about 75 to 80% effective at preventing pregnancy. Plan B helps prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation. You should have a period within 2-3 weeks after taking it. You may also experience some irregular spotting or bleeding after taking Plan B. Your next period may be earlier or later than usual. It may be lighter, heavier or spottier than usual. If you do not have a period, do a pregnancy test.

In the meantime. do not have unprotected intercourse. Consider using condoms or staring a hormonal method like birth control pills, patch, vaginal ring or DepoProvera injection.

My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex and he came inside of me. As soon as he did, I pulled off of him and came myself. He said he thinks when I came, I released his cum. Does that mean I can still get pregnant?

Anytime you have unprotected sex, there is the risk of pregnancy.

Female orgasm has no effect on whether or not pregnancy occurs. Research has shown that female orgasm actually helps to pull or “suck” the semen up into the uterus, helping to increase the likelihood of pregnancy. Sperm are very fast swimmers, so, by the time anything leaks out of the vagina, sperm have already started their quest for an egg.

If you are not planning to become pregnant, consider using a more reliable method of birth control. Condoms are readily available and effective when used consistently and correctly. Hormonal methods include the birth control pills, patch, vaginal ring, and DepoProvera injection.

Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy. You have not been off the birth control pill long enough for your body to adjust to not having the regular daily dose of hormones. At this point, your cycle is irregular, so your ovulation time will be irregular, too. Therefore, it is very difficult to predict your fertile time. If you don’t have a period next month, do a pregnancy test.

The DepoProvera injection is 99.9% effective. It is very unlikely that you would become pregnant while on the Depo. Your protection is effective even when you are bleeding or having a period. The DepoProvera injection protects you from pregnancy but does not offer any protection against sexually transmitted infections.

Continue to receive your injections on time, as scheduled, and you will maintain that 99.9% effectiveness rate.

If would be a good idea for your partner to have an STD screening done. Even if you are negative, there is a possibility that he could be positive. It is not know how much exposure one needs to have before he/she becomes infected. Your partner could be positive and you just haven’t been infected yet.

STD screening usually involves a blood draw for HIV and syphilis, and a urine test for chlamydia and gonorrhea. Family Planning Plus clinics offer free STD screenings for men and women.

It you both were treated at the same time, then you most likely do not have chlamdia again. However, you and your partner may want to be rescreened in 6 to 8 weeks to make sure the antibiotics were effective.

I wanted to see if my period is coming because i am worried that i might be pregnant after taking plan b. I stuck a tampon in my vagina and pulled it out and there was a bloody discharge. Some of it was really fresh blood. Does that mean my period is coming?

Your period may be starting, depending on your cycle. You may be having irregular bleeding.

Plan B helps prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation. After taking it, you may experience some irregular bleeding or spotting until your next period. Your next period may be a little earlier or later than usual. It may be lighter, heavier or spottier than normal. If you do not have a period within 3 weeks of taking Plan B, do a pregnancy test.
