Menstrual irregularities (including missed periods) can occur for a number of different reasons. Pregnancy is just one possibility. Irregular periods can be caused by hormonal imbalances, perimenopause, illness or infection, use of certain medications, and other more serious conditions. Women who are dieting or exercising excessively may also skip periods. In addition, increased stress levels and changes in routine may affect the regularity of menstrual cycles. If your girlfriend has skipped more than one period and she is not using a progestin-only method of birth control, she should probably be evaluated by a medical professional to determine the cause.

Comments Off on I take my birth control pills religiously( exactly the same time EVERY day), but had been on placebo week and also taking amoxicillin for 10days (3 pills daily). The day after I finished the antibiotics, i had intercourse and the frigging condom broke. My boyfriend didn’t ejaculate inside me. I haven’t taken Plan B. This is day 4 since the condom had broken. I have continued religiously taking my birth control pills. I know that antibiotics can interact with the effectiveness of the pill. What are the chances of being pregnant? When should I take a pregnancy test and have it be accurate???
Some antibiotics can interfere with the effectiveness of your birth control pills. How much of a decrease it causes is unknown. The concern is whether or not the effectiveness is lowered enough to allow a break through ovulation to occur. Taking the majority of the antibiotic during your placebo pills was probably helpful. It is good that you started a new pack on time, and that you take your pills consistently. Plan B would not be effective at this point.
If your next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregnancy test.

Comments Off on I used a generic Plan B pill and had sex the next day, and was possibly “came” in…are my chances for pregnancy still high?
One of the ways Plan B helps to prevent pregnancy is by delaying ovulation. That is why it is recommended for use after unprotected intercourse. Taking it a day or two prior to unprotected sex may decrease its effectiveness.
When taken within 24 hours after unprotected sex, Plan B can be about 80% at reducing the risk of pregnancy. Research has shown that is can be also be effective when taken as long as 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex.
If your next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregnancy test.

Comments Off on my wife started ovulating yesterday, if we have sex tonight is there still a good chance of having a boy
When seeking pregnancy, it is actually better to have sex a day or two prior to ovulation, as well as the day of ovulation. That way, sperm is in the vagina when ovulation occurs and the egg is viable. Sperm can survive in the vagina for up to 72 hours, whereas, after ovulation, an egg has the potential for fertilization for only about 24 hours.
Sex determination is based on how the chromosomes of the sperm divide when it fertilizes the egg. If the “X” chromosome is contributed to the egg, then the baby will be a girl. If a “Y” chromosome is contributed, then the baby will be a boy. There is a lot of information in books and online recommending ways to increase your chances of having a specific sex of child. Among these are special diets, certain foods and certain sexual positions. There is no evidence that any of these things really work.

Comments Off on I had my period, then started taking the pill starting on a wednesday. friday night i had unprotected sex with my boyfriend, and then took my birth control saturday at the normal time. however, i can’t remember if i took the pill sunday or monday and took it late tuesday and wednesday. what are the chances of pregnancy??
If you do not take your birth control pills correctly & consistently, then they will not be effective at preventing pregnancy. If you are a new starter, you must take at least 7 consecutive days of the pill before it is effective. If you did not take them correctly, do not rely on the pills for protection. It would be wise to use a back up method of birth control, like condoms or abstinence, for the remainder of the pill pack.
Continue taking your pills. Set the daily alarm on your cell phone as a reminder to take your pills regularly. If your next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregnancy test.

No. As long as both of you are taking your medications correctly & consistently, and only having sexual relations with each other, you should not re-infect each other.

Comments Off on I started Azithromycin for a respiratory infection on Wednesday and completed the pills on Sunday. I had unprotected sex Friday, Saturday, and Monday while on the Z-Pak and the day after finishing the medicine. I have been on birth control for six months never missing a pill and still have a week and a half on the hormone pills until I’m supposed to start my placebos. Should I be worried about being pregnant? I took a Plan B on Tuesday.
It is true that some antibiotics can decrease the effectiveness of your birth control pills. The concern is if the antibiotic will lower the pills’ effectiveness enough to allow your body to have a “break through” ovulation. How much of a decrease it causes is unknown. Since there isn’t much research on specific antibiotics and their effects on oral contraceptive use, we recommend using a back up method while on all antibiotics. Using condoms or abstinence during the time you are on the antibiotic and for 7 days after completion of the medication is the general rule.
So, at this point, you’ve done all you can do. You’ve continued taking your daily birth control pills and you took Plan B. Plan B can reduce the risk of pregnancy by 75 to 80%. Keep in mind that after taking Plan B, you may experience some irregular bleeding or spotting. Your next period may come a little earlier or later than usual. It may be lighter, heavier or spottier than usual. If your period is more than a week late, do a…

Comments Off on I got off inside my girlfriend but she was on her period and she took the an emergency contraceptive pill 12 hours later, what are the chances of her getting pregnant?
Plan B typically reduces the risk of pregnancy by 75% to 80%. It is most effective when taken within 24 hours after unprotected intercourse. Research has shown that it can be taken up to 5 days (120 hours) after unprotected sex, but is less effective.
Plan B is not a long term method of birth control. Frequent use of Plan B may actually increase the risk of pregnancy over time. When used correctly & consistently, condoms are an effective and cost efficient way to prevent pregnancy. Your partner may want to consider beginning a birth control method like birth control pills, patch, vaginal ring or DepoProvera injection.

Comments Off on Me girlfriend missed a week of her birth control and we had unprotected sex and I may have got a little cum inside her. She is late on her period by like 4 days is she pregnant?
Pregnancy is definitely possible. Suggest that she take a pregnancy test if her period doesn’t come within the next few days. If it is negative, she should repeat the test every two weeks until she has a normal period or a positive test result. She might also want to contact the medical provider who prescribed the pill for her. They may want to perform a pregnancy test, and talk with her about how to restart her pill.
