Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy.

The withdrawal method is about 70 to 80% effective a preventing pregnancy. However, some pre-ejaculatory fluid (pre cum) does leak out of the penis prior to ejaculation. This fluid can contain sperm. Pregnancy can occur even if ejaculation does occur in the vagina.

Even though your period was a little early, if it was a normal period, then you should not be pregnant. Light spotting can occur during implantation of a pregnancy. If you feel that you are having symptoms of pregnancy, do a pregnancy test.

If your pregnancy test is negative, you may want to consider starting a long term method of birth control like birth control pills, patch, vaginal ring or the DepoProvera injection. When used correctly, these methods are very effective at preventing pregnancy. That way, if your partner is not consistent with condom use, you still have protection from pregnancy.

Yes, anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy. The more frequently you have unprotected sex, the more likely it is that you will become pregnant.

Plan B helps prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation. It is effective for one act of intercourse; it is not effective for multiple acts of unprotected sex done on multiple days.

If your next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregnancy test.

I only put the birth control patch on when I have sex with my partner. can I still get pregnant like that?

Comments Off on I only put the birth control patch on when I have sex with my partner. can I still get pregnant like that?

You are not using the patch correctly, and YES, you will eventually become pregnant if you continue to use it like that!

The OrthoEvra patch is to be applied once a week for 3 weeks. For example, apply the patch on Sunday. The next Sunday, take off the old patch and apply a new one. Do this weekly for 3 weeks. The fourth week, leave the patch off. This is the week you should have your period.

The patch is designed to deliver continuous hormone therapy through your skin. These hormones regulate your body’s hormones to prevent pregnancy. If you do not have this continuous delivery, you do not have protection. Applying the patch only when you have sex does not do anything. Additionally, you have to wear the patch for at least 7 days before it is effective.

If you still have questions about using the patch, contact your doctor or clinic for more information.

I forgot to take my pill on thursday, then I had unprotected sex on friday before I could take my pill..I forgot to take it friday night too. I took all three of them this saturday morning. Could I be pregnant?

Anytime you forget your pills or do not take them correctly, it decreases the effectiveness of your birth control protection. Continue taking your pills every day. It would be wise to either use condoms or abstain from sex for the rest of your pill pack or until your next period comes. You may experience some irregular spotting or bleeding since you took 3 pills at one time. Your next period may come earlier or later than it should. Continue your pills, starting a new pill pack on time. If your period is more than a week late, do a pregnancy test.

Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy.

Plan B helps prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation. It is not a long term method of birth control, nor is it effective for multiple acts of intercourse. After taking Plan B, your next period may be a little earlier or later than usual. However, depending on when your last period was, there is a possibility that you became pregnant on the 16th. If your next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregnancy test.

Consider using condoms consistently or starting on a long term method of birth control. When used correctly, condoms, birth control pills, and the DepoProvera injection are all very effective at preventing pregnancy.

Anytime you have unprotected intercourse or a method failure like a torn condom, there is the risk of pregnancy.

If you are familiar with your menstrual cycles, you may be able to tell where you’re at fertility wise, within your cycle. Generally, you are less fertile the days just prior to and during your period. This is when pregnancy risk is lower. If you are in the middle of your cycle, that is usually your most fertile time, and pregnancy risk is higher.

Depending on when this took place, Plan B would be a good option. Plan B decreases the risk of pregnancy by 75 to 80%. It is most effective when taken within 24 hours after unprotected intercourse. Research has shown that Plan B can also be effective when taken as long as 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex. Plan B helps prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation. It can be purchased over the counter at most pharmacies by women ages 17 and older. Women under 17 require a prescription. It costs about $46.

If your next period is more…

My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex 3 days after my period had ended. He did not go off in me, and the sex was not for very long at all. I got a UTI 2 days after we had sex though. My question is, could I be pregnant from this?

Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy.

During arousal, prior to ejaculation, the penis can leak a small amount of pre-ejaculatory fluid (pre cum). This fluid may contain sperm, which could result in pregnancy. Therefore, it is possible to become pregnant without ejaculation in the vagina. Having a UTI or not after intercourse would have no effect on the risk of pregnancy.

If your next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregnancy test.

everytime me and my boyfriend have sex he cums inside me..but afterwards i always end up wit cramps..is that cause due to me getting pregnant but i cant no longer have kids my tubes are cut and burned..

If you had a bilateral tubal ligation (tubes tied), then it is highly unlikely that you would become pregnant. Cramping immediately after intercourse may be due to the stimulation of the uterus during sex. During orgasm, the uterus contracts, just like it does in labor. It may take your uterus a little while to relax.

Another possible reason for cramping after intercourse is a vaginal infection.  Non sexually transmitted infections (like yeast and bacterial vaginosis) and sexually transmitted infections ( like chlamydia and gonorrhea) may cause cramping. You might consider scheduling an appointment with your doctor or clinic for an infection check.
