Pregnancy is highly unlikely when intercourse occurs just before, during, or just after the period. Your cramps and mood swings are probably just premenstrual symptoms and your period will probably start any day now. However, if you don’t get your period by the following week, repeat the pregnancy test. Repeat the test every two weeks until you either have a normal period or a positive test result.

Condoms are effective as long as they are used correctly and consistently, and as long as there is no penis-vagina contact without a condom. Anytime you have unprotected sex, it is possible to become infected with a sexually transmitted infection if your partner has one. HIV is much more difficult to acquire than other infections, and the symptoms you described could be the result of other infections. However, the only way to be sure is to be tested. my girlfriends 2 dose of depo shot is on the 10 of march and we had unprotected sex on the 8. can she be pregnant if she doesnt get the shot on the 10th ?

The contraceptive effects of Depo-Provera last 13 weeks. Find out the date of her last shot. and then count forward 13 weeks.  If the intercourse occurred at least a week before the end of the 13 weeks, pregnancy is highly unlikely.

I am currently on a contraceptive patch. I have been using it exactly as the directions say. My boyfriend and i had sex for the first time a few weeks ago. We had sex 3 times, and used condoms. My period is now 4 days late, and as long as i have been on the patch it has been on time. Im very worried. Could i be pregnant? Someone also mentioned that losing your virginity can throw your cycle off, is this true? And when should i take a pregnancy test if i could be pregnant? If you have been using the patch exactly as directed and you have been using condoms as well, pregnancy is highly unlikely. It  is possible that you may not have developed enough of a lining to shed this month. However, missing a period is troublesome and a pregnancy test may ease your mind. Continue to use your patches as directed. Do not stop using your birth control unless you have a positive pregnancy test.

Any over-the-counter pregnancy test is fine to use. Just be sure to follow the instructions carefully. Use first morning urine for the best results. Most pregnancy tests will not be able to detect a pregnancy until you are a week or more late for your period. Good luck!
