I’ve been taking birth control for about two months now. I decided to take them at 2pm each day but the last couple times I forgot and took them at 8pm instead. I have never skipped a pill altogether. Last night my boyfriend and I were doing stuff and the condom fell off, not inside me but in between my legs. I saw stuff and cleaned it off but I’m still really nervous. My boyfriend says I should be ok because I do take the pill daily, but since I took the last two a little late I am not 100% convinced. I am wondering if I should purchase a Plan B pill or should I be ok?

As long as you are taking your pills every day, you should not need to worry. It is best to try to stick to a regular schedule as far as the time you take your pills. Doing this does help maintain a more therapeutic level of hormones in your system, plus, you are less likely to forget your pills.

I have been on the pill for 11 days. I took my 9th pill a little later than normal, but only a few hours. My boyfriend and I had sex using a condom, but the condom broke. He did not ejaculate and we stopped immediately. Could I be pregnant?

If you took the 9th pill within a few hours of your normal time, you do not need to be concerned.

The gynecologist gave my girlfriend a pill that needs to be taken in 48 houers intervals what kind of pill is that?

Emergency contraceptive pills (Plan B) should be taken within 48 hours after unprotected intercourse. However, the sooner after unprotected sex that the Plan B is taken , the more effective it is. When taken early, ECP’s are about 75% to 80% effective at preventing pregnancy. ECP’s help prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation. They are not a long term method of birth control.

Most ECP’s today are packaged as a one pill or two pill dose. Plan B One step is one pill, one time. Other manufacturers may have a two pill package. In this case, both pills are taken at the same time. In the past, Plan B was taken in intervals. That dosing was 1 pill as soon as possible after unprotected sex, then a second pill 12 hours after the first. This was frequently a problem, however, because some women would forget to take the second dose. Therefore, the one pill, one time dosing has become the preferred way for most clinicians.

I had protected sex and after the guy took off the condom and immediately stuck it inside me for a second, is there a possibility i could be pregnant, I had just got off birth control and just stopped by period 2 days before

Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy.

Since you discontinued your birth control, you are no longer protected. Depending on your body’s own cycle, ovulation may take place early in your menstrual cycle, making the risk of pregnancy higher. The first day of your period is considered day 1 of your menstrual cycle. If you have a 28 day cycle, ovulation will usually occur around days 12-16. However, your body has not had time to readjust to not being on birth control, and cycles can be irregular for a month or two. This means that ovulation times can also be irregular.

If your next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregnancy test.

is it possible to get pregnant if your on birthcontrol, but had sex 2 weeks prior before your shot?

If you were not using any method of birth control, then pregnancy is a possibility. Most doctors will recommend no intercourse for two weeks prior to your first DepoProvera injection. Additionally, most will perform a pregnancy test to make sure you are not pregnant.

If you have already been on the DepoProvera injections, and have been receiving them regularly, on time, then you are protected from pregnancy.

If you think that you are having symptoms of pregnancy, do a pregnancy test.

If I had sex with my boyfriend on 2/14/12 and 2/15/12 and I took A pregnancy test on 3/ 4/12 and it is positive doesn’t that mean I got pregnant before 2/14/12

Menstrual cycles and ovulation times do vary from month to month. If you had a positive pregnancy test around March 4, you most likely became pregnant sometime between the first day of your last period and February 25. Unfortunately, there is no way to definitely determine the exact day of conception.

I think I might be pregnant but I don’t start my placebo pills for another week. Could I start them a week early to determine if I’m going to miss my period?

It would probably be best to continue taking your pills as you normally would. Stopping the hormone pills early may alter your cycle. It may come early, however, it may not. If you have been taking your pills correctly & consistently, the risk of pregnancy is low. Rather than stopping your hormone pills early, take a home pregnancy test.  The pills will not interfere with the result.

I was on antibiotics and forgot to take my birth control a few days but then caught up with them. I started bleeding even though I wasn’t suppose to have my period yet. It only lasted a few days. I got my period when i was suppose to a week or so later but it was light and ended early. Is that because of the antibiotics? I didn’t have sex while on the antibiotics and a little while after I was done with them. I made sure my boyfriend used a condom when we started having sex again.

You probably had the irregular bleeding because of taking your pills incorrectly. You were right to abstain from intercourse while on the antibiotics. Some antibiotics will decrease the effectiveness of your pills. Continue taking your pills every day. Your period should return to normal within the next month or so.

I’ve been on birth control for two months. Yesterday I took the last placebo pill of my second pack. I went to the pharmacy today without realizing my prescription is not renewable. I cannot renew my prescription without doctor authorization, so I’m on a brief break until I sort this out. Last night I had unprotected sex. I took my last pill yesterday, so I did not take a pill this morning. Is the morning after pill a good idea or unnecessary because I was on the pill yesterday?

Taking Plan B would be a good idea.
