Yes, anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy. Additionally, if you are not taking your pills correctly & consistently, you cannot rely on them to provide effective pregnancy prevention. Wait until your period is more than 1 week late. If it still has not occurred, do a pregnancy test.

Can having sex less then 24 hours before a std test affect the results

No. However, if you were infected with an STD during that 24 hours, it would probably not be detected by the testing. Many infections take at least 2-4 weeks before they are able to be detected by the testing.

You may have taken your test too early, or you are not pregnant. Wait another week or two, then repeat the pregnancy test. If it is still negative, then you are most likely not pregnant.

Comments Off on If I am using vaginal cream for a yeast infection, can that alter my results of an STD test?

Vaginal yeast cream usually will not affect the results of STD testing. It is better, though, to not use it for 24 to 48 hours prior to your testing.

Hi, my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex, and it was on the day after my last day of my period. I still got a little red spots from my period. And he didn’t cum inside me. It was very far from the vagina. I had done this before but I didn’t get pregnant, and I’m an acidic person, like I usually have acids in my stomach and I had to take meds to ease the pain. I heard acids could kill sperm. I’m just checking if I’m safe?

Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy. Having acid in your stomach is very different than having acid in your vagina. Your stomach and vagina are two very different and separate organs; having problems with acid regulation in your stomach does not mean that your entire bodily system is acidic.

The vaginal fluid does tend to be acidic. This helps prevent vaginal infections. However, vaginal pH does change around ovulation time, becoming less hostile to sperm, therefore, promoting conception. Vaginal fluid itself will not kill sperm and is not reliable birth control.

If you are not planning a pregnancy, you may want to consider using a reliable, long term method of birth control. Condoms, when used correctly & consistently, can be effective at preventing pregnancy. Long term methods of birth control, like the pills, patch, vaginal ring and Depo Provera injection, are relatively safe and very effective. If interested, contact you doctor or clinic.

Family Planning Plus clinics offer gynecological exams, birth control, pregnancy testing and emergency contraception for little to no cost, depending on your household size and income….

You should wait until your next period. If your next period is more than 1 week late, do the pregnancy test.

The only way to know and to give yourself peace of mind is to repeat the pregnancy test. If it is still negative, then you most likely are not pregnant. If you are waiting for a period in order to start your birth control pills, contact your doctor and ask about starting them without a period.

If you have already started your pills, continue to take them every day. It can take 1 to 3 months for your body to become adjusted to the pills. Until then, your period may be a little earlier or later, but it should occur sometime during the placebo week of your pill pack.

If you have been taking your birth control pills correctly & consistently, the chance of pregnancy is very low. Additionally, if you have not been sexually active since November, and had gotten pregnant at that time, you would be “showing” and having a variety of pregnancy signs.

Urine pregnancy tests usually show up positive by the 5th week of pregnancy. So, if you did a pregnancy test and it was negative, you are not pregnant.

Occasionally, due to hormonal fluctuations, women may experience symptoms that “feel” like pregnancy. Breast tenderness, bloating, irregular bleeding and tiredness can be common. You can also repeat the pregnancy test at this time. If it is negative, then you have more peace of mind.

If these symptoms continue and your test is negative, you may want to contact your doctor or clinic for a follow up appointment. You may need a change in your pills, or you may have something else going on.

Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy. If your partner had a normal period in February, then she most likely was not pregnant. However, the only way to know is to have her do a pregnancy test.

If you are not planning a pregnancy and continue to be sexually active, continue to us condoms. Your partner may want to consider starting a long term birth control method like the pills or DepoProvera injection. If you and your partner need reproductive care, Family Planning clinics are available. In Pennsylvania, minors do not need parental consent for reproductive health care services.

Family Planning Plus clinics offer gynecological exams, birth control, pregnancy testing and emergency contraception for little to no cost, depending on your household size and income. Clients 17 and under receive free services. STD screenings are free for men and women of all ages. Please feel free to schedule an appointment at any of our clinic locations.

Hi me and my friend had sex about 3 days ago, I am incredibly stressed and nervous and experiencing faint headaches and tummy aches but I think they may be due to nerves. We used a condom and as far as I know it didn’t snap. But for the last few days I have been getting white discharge is this normal ovulation or am I experiencing. Early pregnancy symptoms. My period has always been very irregular so I am unsure of when I should be getting it, my last one was 6 weeks ago and lasted 4 days.

Anytime you have unprotected sex, there is the risk of pregnancy. However, you & your partner used a condom, so the risk of pregnancy should be low.

If you are not planning a pregnancy, and continue to be sexually active, continue using condoms or abstain from sex. You may want to consider starting a long term birth control method like the birth control pills. Pills will help regulate your periods, giving you the cycle control that you do not currently have.

If you feel that you are experiencing pregnancy symptoms, do a pregnancy test.
