Yes, most people who are on hormonal methods of birth control have unprotected sex (sex without a condom). Hormonal methods (including the shot) prevent pregnancy by suppressing ovulation (the monthly release of an egg). If a woman doesn’t ovulate, there is no egg for the sperm to meet. Unfortunately, no birth control method is 100% effective. However, the Depo-Provera shot is over 99% effective as long as you get your shots every 10-13 weeks.
Just remember that hormonal methods do not provide any protection against sexually transmitted infections. To reduce your risk of STIs, use condoms in addition to the shot.

Comments Off on I’ve been on depo for 2 weeks and my boyfriend ejaculated in me may i become pregnant?
You would have been protected by the shot at the time of the intercourse. However, Depo is not 100% effective so there is always a slight risk of pregnancy (less than 1%).

Comments Off on I havebeen on the pill for 3 years and I had unprotected sex last weekend and he ejaculated inside of me. I was on my 14th pill in the pack and had not missed any. Is it possible that I could be pregnant?
Since you have been taking your pills every day and have not missed any pills, pregnancy is highly unlikely. Unfortunately, there is always a slight risk of pregnancy (about 1% or less) even when you take your pills perfectly (at the same time every day). Keep taking your pills as directed. If you don’t have any bleeding during your placebo pills, take a pregnancy test. Do not stop taking your pills unless you test positive for pregnancy.

Comments Off on My boyfriend ejaculated inside me the 2nd(March 2) day of my fertility day, and we still had sex the next day. March 5 is my ovulation then on the 7 we did it again i woke up the next day to a light flow. What can this mean??
You may be having either irregular bleeding or your period came early. Many things can cause changes in your menstrual cycle. Stress, illness, hormonal fluctuations, and changes in diet, exercise or sleep can alter the timing of your periods. They may come earlier or later than usual.
If the bleeding persists for more than a couple weeks, you may have a vaginal infection. Consider scheduling an appointment with your doctor for an infection check.

Comments Off on my girlfriens has been on the pill for nearly three months and we had unprotected sex are we safe?
As long as she has been taking her pills around the same time each day and as long as she hasn’t missed any pills, pregnancy is highly unlikely. When used perfectly, the pill is 99% effective. The pill does not provide any protection against sexually transmitted infections. To reduce your risk of STIs, we recommend that you use condoms in addition to the pill.

Comments Off on i am irregular and my boyfriend and i had unprotected sex. i took plan b and 4 days later i started bleeding. It went on for about 4 days and on the 4th day we had intercourse again but we used a condom, during the process the condom broke but he isn’t sure if he pulled out in time. It has been 3 weeks and i have been tired and feeling sick. I took a pregnancy test a few days ago and it read negative, but like i said i am irregular. Can i be pregnant?
Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy. Taking Plan B after unprotected intercourse is effective. Plan B helps prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation. Therefore, depending on the timing of your menstrual cycle, pregnancy could have occurred during the second unprotected incident (when the condom broke).
Wait another week or two. If your period still has not occurred, do a pregnancy test.

Comments Off on My boyfriend and I had protected sex last week on 3/14/2012. I have been on the Pill for a month now and we used a condom. We had never had sex before, so I lost my virginity that day. I was taking the placebo pills in my first birth control pack at the time and I started my period the next day on 3/15. What are the chances that I am pregnant?
Since you were using both the birth control pill and a condom and since you already started your period, I’d say your risk of pregnancy is almost 0%. Just remember to open a new pack of pills the day after you take your last placebo pill.

Comments Off on Can I get pregnant if I’m using the patch and my bf is not using a condom?
If you are using your birth control patches correctly & consistently, then you are protected. Your partner does not have to use a condom. However, if you feel more comfortable using condoms as a back up method, that’s okay.

Comments Off on I have been on yaz for 5 years and my boyfriend and I had the condom break half way through intercourse. I am supposed to start my placebo pills today. I have not missed a day at all. Should I buy plan b or continue with my placebo pills. Am I pregnant?
As long as you have been taking your pills around the same time every day, there is no need to use Plan B.

Comments Off on Is it possible for one partner to have an std and the other not if we have been having sex for 6 months?
Yes. A person may be exposed to an infection but not become infected. It depends on the individual’s immune system, amount of exposure, and gender. Women are more likely to be infected by men than men are by women.
Another possibility is that a women’s test may be positive but her partner’s test is negative. One theory is that men flush out some of the infective bacteria during urination. It is suggested that STD testing be done on the first urine of the morning (almost impossible to do if you have to wait for the office to open).
The CDC recommends treating both partners even if only 1 positive result is obtained.
