Yes, pregnancy is possible because of pre-seminal fluid (also called pre-ejaculate).  Pre-seminal fluid leaks out of the penis prior to ejaculation.  Sometimes this fluid contains sperm that is left in the urethra from a previous ejaculation.

However, your late period may be due to stress instead. Wait one more week, and then take a pregnancy test. If it is negative, repeat the test every two weeks until you have a normal period or a positive test result.

In the meantime, do not have any more unprotected sex. Either abstain from sexual intercourse or use condoms from start to finish for each act of sexual intercourse.

If you plan to continue to have sex, you may want to consider starting a hormonal method of birth control. If you live near one of our offices, please call us for an appointment. We can talk with you about all of your contraceptive options and help you choose one that is best for you. If you live further away, contact the Family Planning or Planned Parenthood office closest to you.

If a man possibly has chlamydia, and has unprotected sex for literally 5 seconds, and then put on a condom to continue the sex, what are the chances that chlamydia transfers to the woman?

It is impossible to give you a percentage regarding the risk of transmission. However, transmission is possible. The woman should be tested for chlamydia. If she lives near one of our offices, she should call one of our offices for a free and confidential STD screening appointment. If she lives further away, she should contact the STD clinic or Family Planning/Planned Parenthood office nearest her.

it’s been a week since my fiance came inside me… now my stomach is in pain… and i can’t take birth control… could i be pregnant…. ? Also.. i don’t really keep track of my period that well… could this have something to do with it?

If you are in pain, you need to seek medical help. Pregnancy is always a possibility when you have unprotected sex, but pregnancy symptoms do not generally occur this early. If the pain you are experiencing is lower abdominal pain, it may be an indication that your period is about to start. It may also be pain associated with your gastrointestinal tract. The only way to know for sure is to consult a physician. Contact the medical provider of your choice and make an appointment.

I had sex the first day and the last day of ovulation which was Febuary 19th and 26th…my period was due March 9th so I told a pregnancy test of March 12 and it was negative. I’m now 7days late on me period, could I see be pregnant?

Ovulation is the monthly release of an egg from the ovary. The egg is released into the fallopian tube where it remains for a 12-24 hour period to await possible fertilization by a sperm. If an egg is not fertilized, it disintegrates and is absorbed into the uterine lining. If sexual intercourse occurs several days before, during or hours after ovulation, pregnancy is possible. So, yes, you could possibly be pregnancy.

Take another pregnancy test two weeks after the first test you took.  If it is negative, repeat the test every two weeks until you have a normal period or a positive test result.

If you do not wish to be pregnant, do not continue to have unprotected sex. Either abstain from sexual intercourse or use a method of birth control. I took plan b on feb 16 because there might have been a problem with the condom on the 14th. my period on feb was on the 5-10. I had spotting feb 24th-27/28, the doctor said plan b might have reset my cycle, since my original date is the 5th. I took a pregnancy test at the doctor with first morning urine on march 7th or 8th (2-3 days late) it was negative, then took a home pregnancy test on march 14th and it was negative. Yesterday I had a brown spot in the morning, then at night i noticed clear discharge with a bit of bright blood, when i wiped at night i had clear discharge with very light pink blood on it. I haven’t had pregnancy symptoms, my cycle might have been reset which means it should start this weekend around the time of the spotting or maybe skipped and wont start until april 5th which is my original cycle date. Could I be pregnant and not show up on the urine tests? Could the spotting or the clear discharge with blood be a sign of an STI? Also ive had more discharge than normal, it sometimes feel like I peed myself a bit or got my period, is that a sign of pregnancy or my cycle adjusting due to plan b? Thanks for your answer and time :)

Your irregular cycle and spotting are most likely due to taking Plan B. Wait two more weeks and then take another pregnancy test just to be sure, but pregnancy is unlikely in your case. If you are worried about sexually transmitted infections, contact your doctor for a screening appointment. If you are uncomfortable going to your own doctor for STD screening, contact a nearby STD clinic or a Family Planning or Planned Parenthood office.

Condoms work best when they are used correctly and consistently. Here are some tips for correct condom use.

Always check the expiration date to be sure it is not expired prior to use.
Condoms should be stored at room temperature in a sharps free environment.
Never use an oil-based lubricant with a latex condom. If you need additional lubricant, use a water-based type like KY Jelly or Astroglide.
Pinch the tip of the condom between the thumb and forefinger while rolling it onto the erect penis to ensure that there is no air pocket in the tip of the condom.
Smooth out the sides of the condom once it has been rolled on to ensure there…

I had sex about 9 days after the start of my last period. I used a condom, which had not expired and had no damage to the package as far as I could tell. As far as I know, it did not break and I didn’t notice any leakage. I also took Plan B just because I freaked out 2 days after (so that was about 57 hours after) because I have really bad anxiety and I just didn’t know what to do. I am not due for my period for like another 13 days, but I am just wondering IF he had leaked into me, how likely would it be that I’m pregnant? Is it likely? I don’t use pills or any other birth control (other than condoms) because I don’t have sex frequently. Thanks.

From one act of unprotected sex, you have about an 8% risk of pregnancy. If the intercourse occurred around ovulation time, the risk would be higher.  If you regularly ovulate mid-cycle and you have 28-day cycles, you would have ovulated approximately 14 days after the beginning of your period. I wouldn’t stress out too much. You used a condom and it sounds as if the condom did not break or leak during use and you also used Plan B to further reduce your risk. If you are a week or more late for your next period, take a pregnancy test. However, pregnancy is highly unlikely in your case.

Just remember that Plan B should not be used habitually as a regular method of birth control as it is less effective than other methods.  If you are going to continue to have sexual intercourse, you may want to think about using a hormonal form of birth control as they are more effective.  If you live near one of our offices, please call us for an appointment. What happen if your 13weeks and still wear nuvaring?

22. March 2012

Comments Off on What happen if your 13weeks and still wear nuvaring?

If you mean you are 13 weeks pregnant, then you should immediately remove the NuvaRing. Hormonal methods should not be used during pregnancy.

If you are worried about whether or not the NuvaRing will cause birth defects. Studies do not show an increased risk of birth defects in babies whose mothers used hormones during early pregnancy.

If you are pregnant, follow these recommendations to help ensure a healthy pregnancy outcome:

Schedule a prenatal appointment with a medical provider of your choice as soon as possible and be sure to receive regular prenatal care.
Begin taking a daily multivitamin with 400 mcg of folic acid ( a B vitamin that prevents birth defects of the brain and spine).
Quit smoking and avoid second-hand smoke.
Avoid alcoholic beverages.
Do not use street drugs, and check with a doctor before using prescription or over-the-counter medications (some medications are not safe to use during pregnancy).
Eat healthfully and maintain a healthy weight.
Reduce the amount of stress in your life (if possible).
Get regular exercise.  Walking, swimming, stretching, and housework are all good exercise choices before and during pregnancy.

If you mean that you’ve had…

Take a pregnancy test. If it is negative, repeat the test every two weeks until you either have a normal period or a positive test result.

Just in case you are pregnant, be sure to take the following precautions:

Begin taking a daily multivitamin with 400 mcg of folic acid ( a B vitamin that prevents birth defects of the brain and spine).
Quit smoking and avoid second-hand smoke.
Avoid alcoholic beverages.
Stop using street drugs, and check with a doctor before using prescription or over-the-counter medications (some medications are not safe to use during pregnancy).
Eat healthfully and maintain a healthy weight.
Be sure to get regular preventive medical care.
Reduce the amount of stress in your life (if possible).
Get regular exercise.  Walking, swimming, stretching, and housework are all good exercise choices before and during pregnancy.

In case you are not pregnant and do not want to be pregnant, please  do not continue to have unprotected sex. Either abstain from sexual intercourse or use condoms from start to finish for each sexual act. Contact the medical provider who prescribed your pill and explain that you are having…

Pregnancy is highly unlikely. Plan B should only be used with regular birth control pills when you miss a pill by 24 hours or more. You really didn’t need to use Plan B.
