Start your birth control pills when your provider told you to start them. Taking them as directed now will not help to prevent a pregnancy from an act of intercourse that occurred last night.
Instead, we would recommend that you use Plan B to reduce your risk of pregnancy.
Plan B One-step is a pill you can take after unprotected sex to reduce the risk of pregnancy. It works best if it is used within the first 24 hours after sex but can be used up to 120 hours (or five days) after unprotected sex with decreased effects after the first three days. The sooner you use Plan B, the more effective it is.
Plan B works by delaying ovulation (the monthly release of an egg), and possibly by interfering with fertilization (the union of sperm and egg) and implantation (when the fertilized egg implants itself into the uterine lining. If you are already pregnant, it will not terminate the pregnancy. According to the manufacturer, the treatment prevents seven of eight pregnancies that otherwise would have occurred.
If you are 17 or older, you can purchase Plan B at most…

Comments Off on Hey! I’m 21 years old and I need help. This month will be the second month I havnt had my period. My last period was January 27th 2012. I took billions of pregnancy test and all were negative. I took another one a couple days ago and it was a faint positive. I waited a couple days to take another one it was negative. I dont know what to do. I’ve also noticed that my veins are bulging out everywhere especially on my chest and my areolas keep changeing colors. One mintue there dark then the next there light.I have also notice blue veins all over the palms of my hands. I also have tissue like discharge, sometimes it’s a lot and sometimes it’s very little. Could I be pregnant or have a STD. Please help!!
If you had a faint positive result from a home pregnancy testing kit, you need to make an appointment with your regular medical provider for a more definitive pregnancy test. If you are worried about sexually transmitted infections as well, you can also request STD testing at your appointment. If you don’t have a regular provider and live near one of our offices, please give us a call for an appointment. If you live further away, consult the yellow pages or search online for a provider of your choice.

Comments Off on My boyfriend and I have been using the withdrawal method for 6 years and its worked, but suddenly I am late. For two weeks, I have been breaking out in giant pimples. For the past few days my boobs are sore. I am waking up at like 4am and I am super thirsty and I have a stuffy nose (I even cleaned my air conditioners because I thought that was the problem, but it wasn’t because its still happening). I feel like I have a cold or flu now. My stomach is upset. I am starting to worry that I might be pregnant. These symptoms seem weird though. Could I be pregnant? The withdraw method has always worked for us, but one night we had sex multiple times which I just read is bad. Any thoughts?
Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy.
You won’t know until you take a pregnancy test.

Comments Off on Me and my boyfriend had protected sex, but the next morning (about 9 hrs later) took plan b. Later that night we had sex again. First we ysed a condom, then decided to try without it. He didnt cum inside me, but could I still be pregnant from any semen left around my vagina or his penis? Also could the plan b pill, taken that morning, prevent me from being pregnant??
Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy.
Plan B helps prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation. According to the literature, it is only good for one event of unprotected intercourse. If other unprotected sexual events occur, it is recommended that Plan B be taken again. However, due to its mechanism of action, frequent use of Plan B may actually increase the chances of pregnancy.
If you & your partner are not planning a pregnancy, consider beginning a long term method of birth control, like the birth control pills, patch, vaginal ring or Depo Provera injection. Condoms, when used correctly & consistently, can be effective at preventing pregnancy.
If your next period is more than a week late, do a pregnancy test.

Comments Off on I’ve been on my period for a week now going on two I haven’t had sex since I got on depo and my next shot is next month my normal period is five days please give me a answer will this stop
It can be common to have irregular bleeding while on the DepoProvera injection. This irregular bleeding & spotting can occur at random times, or it can occur monthly. Irregular bleeding & spotting is most common in the beginning of Depo use.
The amount of and frequency of irregular bleeding depends on the individual. As you receive more injections, your bleeding profile should improve. Most women have little to no bleeding after 3 injections.
If your bleeding continues for more than a month, or becomes heavier, contact your doctor or clinic.

Comments Off on I use Nuvaring for birth control, and have been using it as directed since December. Usually my period starts within 2 days of the date I remove the ring each month. This month, for the last few weeks I have been experiencing vaginal dryness that has made me itchy. Then when I removed the Nuvaring on Friday, my period did not start and the dryness problem didn’t go away. I’ve been having some issues with my blood sugar levels, and have been getting hot flashes/night sweats like I did when I was pregnant with my only daughter, who is now 5 months old. We always use condoms, so chances of pregnancy are low, but I am concerned. On wednesday, 5 days after I removed the nuvaring, I was scheduled to have all 4 wisdom teeth removed and was put under for the procedure. I was prescribed percocet and amoxicillin for after care. My period came Thursday, but was light. Today is Friday again, and I have been passing a lot of clots, and despite the pain killers for my mouth, I’ve had stabbing pains in my uterus/cervix. Could I be/have been pregnant, and this surgery and drugs caused an early miscarriage? If I take an over the counter pregnancy test, will it be positive if I am experiencing a miscarriage?
If you have been using the NuvaRing correctly & consistently, it is very unlikely that you became pregnant. You may be experiencing some hormonal changes or fluctuations, especially since you are having hot flashes. It can take several months for your body to return to normal after having a baby. Many things can alter you cycles: stress, surgery, illness, change in diet, exercise or sleep patterns. These can make periods come earlier, later or not at all.
Occasionally, after extended use of pills or the NuvaRing, some women will experience very short and light periods. Some women may skip a month here and there. This is not unusual. Continue using it as directed, and insert a new one on schedule.
However, if you are feeling like you are pregnant, for peace of mind, do a home pregnancy test.

Comments Off on Hello. I need some help please. I am stressing myself out so much that I believe I am having palpitations. I take birth control and usually do not miss many pills. Occasionally I will take 2 in one day, but usually have my period within 30 days of one another. I had taken my birth control every day, and had sex the week after my ovulation week. My partner and I used a condom and he checked the condom and said it was intact. Normally, I start my period on the 5th placebo pill day. I am on my 2nd day in a new pack of pills and still have no started my period. Yesterday and today, I felt heavy cramping, but I still am not bleeding. True, I am only 3 days late, but it has been 32 days since my last period and I am severely worried. Also the week after we had sex, I skipped some of the 3rd week pills, but doubled up on them and eventually took them all. I also drank very heavy that week I skipped some of the pills. Could skipping the 3rd week of pills and drinking excessive alcohol delay my period as well? I am going to buy a hpt tomorrow, but is it too soon to take? We had sex 2 weeks ago and my period was due a week after we had sex. Any help would greatly be appreciated!
Many things can alter or delay your period. The only way you will have peace of mind is to perform a home pregnancy test. Until you do the pregnancy test, continue taking your birth control pills and try not to miss any. If your test is negative, continue your pills and wait for the placebo pills of your next pack. If you don’t have bleeding with the next pack, contact your doctor or clinic. You may need a change of pills.

Comments Off on I am on be-yaz birth control. 1.) Because my boyfriend and I are sexually active 2.) Because I get extremely emotional & other bad side-effects before I get my period and when I actually have my period. The problem is: I feel like I don’t take my birth control at the same exact time every night. I just pop in the pill whenever I remember during the evening … but sometimes I don’t remember until 12:30 a.m. So this would mean that I have more of a risk of getting pregnant? Correct? Well – Recently – one of my friends told me that she let her boyfriend ejaculate inside her and she is on the pill. She didn’t get pregnant. I looked it up online and I feel as though a lot of girls do this. I didn’t even know that people actually did this unless they wanted a baby, so I was shocked. But then I read on my birth control packet that I “don’t need any other forms of birth control” at certain times during my cycle. But not taking my birth control at the exact same time everyday – makes me unable to be part of this “non-protection” population. Right? ANOTHER QUESTION: This is sort of a follow -up question of the previous question. If I am on the pill (but don’t take it at the exact same time) – and I have my PERIOD – can my boyfriend cum inside me? I really don’t think that we would do this – we would probably both freak out – but if we feel like it is safe, maybe we will try it this upcoming weekend – since we got a hotel room in Boston (a trip I am taking for work) – but it turns out, I will have my period during this trip (so it’s kinda a bummer). WE might try to have sex, if I feel comfortable & not completely grossed out by myself. But to make it a little more interesting for him – maybe if he was able to cum inside me it would be better sex than – nasty period sex. (Sorry this is long, but I would appreciate some feedback!!)
The bottom line: if you take your birth control pills correctly & consistently, at around the same time every day (within 1-2 hours of the same time), then you do not have to worry about pregnancy.
Taking your pills inconsistently may cause a decrease in their effectiveness. If you miss a pill or take 2 pills in one day, use condoms as a back up method for at least 7 days. Some antibiotics may decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills. Therefore, use abstinence or condoms during the time you are on the antibiotics and for at least 7 days after completion of the antibiotics.
If you are taking your pills correctly & consistently, and are in a monogamous relationship where you do not have to be concerned about STDs, then your partner does not need to regularly use a condom. If you or your partner have other/multiple partners, then using condoms would be a good idea to prevent infections.

Comments Off on Ok sometime in January my girlfriend to the next xhoice pills and her period cam early like two weeks like end of January then her next period came on the 29 of February we had anal sex, never cam in her, and we dry humped I had on hanes boxers and she didnt have anything but, she has thick hips and I had pre cum on the side of my boxers which wasnt near her vagina. but it’s almost 29 days and she hasn’t had pre cramps and what not. Im worried that somehow sperm got into her vagina. Or could it still be the pill messing up her cycle?
Sperm needs to be deposited into the vagina in order for pregnancy to occur. Pregnancy would not have occurred from dry humping, anal sex or semen on your boxers.
If you and your partner are concerned about pregnancy, have your partner do a pregnancy test.

Comments Off on I am worried that I may be pregnant and I want to know how likely it is. I have sex about once a week and last week I had my normal, heavy, week long period, and had sex during the oeriod. I always use condoms, sometimes with spermicide and I take the pill somewhat irregularly. When my boyfriend comes it is inside me but with the condom still on. we occasionally lay there after he came while he is still inside of me for less than a full minute. He does not always grip the base as he pulls out. Now for a week I have been incredibly tired and dizzy and I’m worried I may be pregnant even though my period had just ended right when the symptoms started. Is there any chance I am pregnant and if so how long should I wait before taking a home pregnancy test?
Wait until your next period is more than 1 week late to do a pregnancy test.
