I am on microgestin fe 1/20 birth control, I took three weeks of the white active pills. I had unprotected sex the first day of the brown/reminder pills. Me and my guy had unprotected sex for 2 1/2 days, I take my pills at night so during those days I took two brown/reminder pills. The next day me and my guy had unprotected sex in the morning but he did not cum inside me, after sex I showered and noticed I started my period. This is my first month on birth control, if I start my period during the brown/reminder pills does that mean I am not pregnant? or what are my chances of becoming pregnant? I take my pills at the same time everyday, I have only been late twice but not by more than 20 min. Thanks for your answer

As long as you are taking your birth control pills correctly & consistently, the chances of pregnancy are very low.

The birth control pill pack is set up so that you take 21 days of hormone (estrogen & progestin) pills, followed by 7 days of hormone free pills (also called placebo pills, inactive pills, “fake” pills). During the hormone free pill week, you should have your period. Any bleeding or spotting during that week would be considered a period. Bleeding may begin at any time during that week, depending on the individual woman. Some women begin on the first day of the inactive pills, other woman may not begin until the 3rd or 4th day of the inactive pills. Bleeding during this week also reassures you that pregnancy has not occurred.

Begin your next pack on time and continue to take your pills every day.

I had unprotected sex one week after delivering my son, none of his sperm got inside of me though. what’s the possibility I could be pregnant?

It is unlikely that you would ovulate as soon as 1 week after giving birth. It is recommended to wait at least 6 weeks after delivery before resuming sexual activity. This allows time for the woman’s body to heal, and decreases the risk of uterine infection. It is important though, that you begin a method of birth control as soon as medically possible to prevent pregnancy. Discuss your options with your ob doctor.

Wait for your next period. If your next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregnancy test. You and your partner may want to go online and review guidelines for correct condom use.

When used correctly & consistently, condoms can be very effective at preventing pregnancy. However, if condom problems continue, you may want to consider beginning a long term method of birth control like pills, patches, the vaginal ring or the DepoProvera injection. Using 2 forms of birth control greatly reduces the risk of pregnancy…and your stress level.

Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy. Having unprotected sex within 3 days of your fertile time does increase your chances of becoming pregnant.

I am wondering how long after unprotected sex can you test positive for chlymidia? I have not had intercourse for almost a year and because of health problems had 3 paps since (in which I know at least one tested for stds). I had unprotected sexual intercourse on a late Saturday night/early Sunday morning and had a my pap on Monday around 2pm. I tested positive for chylmidia. Is it possible to test positive that soon or did I possibly have one or more false negatives?

Many sexually transmitted infections can be asymptomatic, and can remain so for years. Someone can have an STI, have no symptoms and still be contagious. The pap test is a screening test for cervical cancer. It is not a test for STI’s and is not a good indicator of whether or not infection is present. That is why regular STD screening, which includes cultures for chlamydia & gonorrhea, as well as testing for HIV & syphilis, is important.

Practicing safe sex can decrease your risk of infections, although, it is not foolproof. Condoms only cover so much, and some infections, like herpes and genital warts are spread by skin to skin contact.

With chlamydia and gonorrhea infections, many people have no symptoms. Chlamydia symptoms usually appear about one to three weeks after exposure. Gonorrhea may show up as soon as two days or may take as long as one month.

Trichomoniasis infections usually appear in women about 5 to 28 days after exposure. Women are more likely to have symptoms than men; men usually have no symptoms. Trich infections must be diagnosed by examining the vaginal discharge…

I had unprotected sex 10 times in three days I thought I was protected he pulled out once it happened 12,11,and10 days before my next period what is the chance I’m pregnant?

Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy. The more frequently you have unprotected sex, the more likely it is that you will get pregnant.

If your next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregnancy test.

You may want to consider using condoms or starting a long term method of birth control, especially if you are not planning a pregnancy at this time. There are several birth control options like pills, patches, the vaginal ring, Merina IUD, or the DepoProvera injection.

I had sex for the first time in a long time (9 months ago) a week from today. We did use a condom. But I notice that my vagina has a white discharge inside. Pretty thin. I am on the pill and have been sexually active for seven years. My labia minora sticks out some from my labia majora (possibly inflammed). It doesn’t itch or burn. Is my pH off? Do you think it’s a bacteria vaginal infection? Please help! Thanks.

It is normal  for the labia minora (inside lips) to stick out further than the labia majora (outer lips). All women have this, so what you’re seeing is most likely not a concern.

Vaginal infections may or may not be related to sexual activity. Infections like yeast and bacterial vaginosis are common and are usually due to changes in the pH balance within the vagina. Sexually transmitted infections, like chlamydia and gonorrhea are, of course, due to having sexual relations with an infected partner.

Yeast infections can cause a white, thick, cottage cheese like discharge that has no odor. Vaginal and genital itching are common and may be intense. Treatment with  either an antifungal cream or pill  is necessary.

Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is usually characterized by a thin, milky white discharge that has a “fishy” odor. This odor may become more noticeable after intercourse or showering. Vaginal burning or burning with urination may be present. BV is diagnosed by a vaginal exam. The doctor may prescribe an antibiotic pill or cream to treat BV.

If you feel that your discharge continues to be abnormal, schedule…

Anytime you have unprotected intercourse or skip pills, there is the risk of pregnancy. It is important to “make up” skipped pills. If you normally take your pills on a regular basis, it is probably unlikely that you would ovulate that quickly. However,if your next period does not come when expected, do a pregnancy test. In the meantime, continue to take your pills consistently & correctly.
