Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy. Keep in mind that menstrual cycles can vary from month to month. Things like hormone changes, stress, illness, etc. can cause you to ovulate earlier or later than usual.

If you were truly 5 days after ovulation, your risk of pregnancy would be lower. In the future, if you have a condom mishap, you do have the option of taking emergency contraception. ECPs ( Plan B, Plan B One-Step, Next Choice) help prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation. ECPs should be taken within 24 to 72 hours after unprotected intercourse in order to be most effective. They are available for purchase over the counter for women ages 17 and older at many pharmacies. Women under 17 still require a prescription.

You may also want to consider starting a long term method of birth control like the birth control pills or the DepoProvera injection.

Family Planning Plus clinics offer gynecological exams, birth control, pregnancy testing and emergency contraception for little to no cost, depending on your household size and income. STD screenings are free for men…

I am currently ovulating, it started maybe two days ago. i had unprotected sex four days ago. what are my chances of becoming pregnant?

If you have unprotected sex during your fertile time, you increase your chances of becoming pregnant. Menstrual cycles vary from

month to month, so you could have ovulated earlier or later than you planned. Sperm are able to survive in the vagina for as long

as 3 days. This means that you could have unprotected sex on Friday and get pregnant on Monday.  If your next period is more than 1 week late,

do a pregnancy test.

i took next choice three days after unprotected sex and four days after that i started spotting not regular bleeding but kind of brownish and not heavy either what does this mean?

You should have a period or bleeding within 2-3 weeks after taking the emergency contraceptive. The ECPs gives your body a dose of

progesterone, which is one of the hormones that helps regulate your menstrual cycle. Progesterone is also one of the hormones found in

regular birth control pills.  ECPs help prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation. Due to this, you may experience some irregular bleeding or spotting

throughout the next month. Your next period may be earlier or later than usual, and it may be lighter, spottier or heavier than usual.  Your cycle should return to normal

within the next month or so. If you do not have a period with 3-4 weeks after the ECPs, take a pregnancy test.

Yes, continue taking your pills every day. Since you missed two pills, you may experience some irregular spotting through this current

pill pack. If you do happen to be sexually active, use condoms until you have your next period.

I’m 15 and I’ve had sex for the 2nd time and this time we used a latex trogon condom and after this time the sex was so painful. Kept me up for days my vagina burns, it’s itchy I get sharp pains. And I pee blood not on my period but the pee is bright yellow. What is wrong?

You may have a vaginal infection and/or a urinary tract infection.  It is not normal to have blood in your urine.

You will need to schedule an appointment with your family doctor. He/She will most likely request a urine sample to

test for infection. A vaginal exam may be done to rule out a yeast or bacterial infection. In the meantime, be sure to

increase your fluids (water is best) to help your urinary tract.

After you’re feeling better, you might want to consider the possibility that you have a latex allergy and this is what

caused your vaginal discomfort. Latex allergies can cause redness, pain, swelling, itching and burning.

There are non-latex condoms available for purchase at most pharmacies and department stores.

If you and your partner do not like the non-latex condoms, consider starting a long term method of birth control

like the birth control pills, patch, vaginal ring or DepoProvera injection.

Yes, it is important to continue and complete the entire course of medication. If you are concerned about

the effectiveness of the pills (if you are unable to take them or have not taken them correctly), you may

want to consider getting rechecked in 6 to 8 weeks to make sure the infection is gone.

my boyfriend cummed in me and i got my period three weeks later could i be pregnant

As long as your period was normal, pregnancy is highly unlikely. If you are worried about pregnancy, you may want to take a pregnancy test just to be on the safe side.

In the meantime, please do not continue to have unprotected sex. Either abstain from sexual intercourse or use condoms. If you are interested in starting a regular method of birth control that will significantly reduce your risk of pregnancy and you live near one of our offices, please call us for an appointment. If you live further away, call the Family Planning or Planned Parenthood office closest to you.

Ive had numerous std’s but i always get treated asap. yesterday my boyfriend enjaculated in me and my period is in 3 day. could i end up pregnant?

Yes, anytime you have unprotected intercourse, pregnancy is possible. However, if you have regular 28 day cycles, if you have predicted the beginning of your period correctly, and if you ovulate mid-cycle, pregnancy is unlikely since the intercourse occurred too many days after ovulation.

It is important to note that multiple chlamydial infections do increase the risk of infertility. If you are concerned about your fertility, you may want to consult an infertility specialist.

I missed taking the pill after my 7 day break so thought I’d leave it till the start of my next period and start again, my period hasn’t came. Last time I was with a guy was October (7months ago) and although we did fool about naked we didn’t have sex, I had every withdrawal bleed since and also took a pregnancy test which was negative. Why else would I miss period after stopping pill

It may take 1 to 3 months for your body to become adjusted to not having the birth control pills, and to get into a regular cycle of having periods.

If you missed starting a new pack, youdo not have to wait until your next period if you want to continue taking the pills. If you wish to restart the

pills, you could restart them at anytime, as long as you have not had any unprotected intercourse. You could restart the

pills this Sunday. Keep in mind that, not being on the pills, you should consider yourself fertile, so, continue to abstain or use condoms.

If you do restart the pills this Sunday, it does take at least 7 days for the pills to become active, so use protection until then.

i had unprotected sex while on lo loestrin Fe. only been on it for less then two months. my boyfriend ejaculated in me twice during my ovulation cycle. i took my pill late that day. what is my chances i could have gotten pregnant?

As long as you took your pill within 24 hours of missing it, your pregnancy risk is very low. While you are on the pill, you do not ovulate. Missing a pill by over 24 hours and especially missing your very first pill in a new pack increases the risk that you might ovulate and thus increases the risk of pregnancy. Women who use the pill perfectly (take a pill at the same time everyday) have a 1% risk of pregnancy. If you missed your pill by less than 3 hours, you would have the same risk. If you missed your pill by more than 3 hours, you would have a slightly higher risk.
