It is not clear from your question exactly what happened with your pills. You may have taken all of your hormone pills in one pack and then started the very next day on your hormone pills in your next pack. Or you may have taken all of your hormone pills in one pack, then waited seven days (without taking any of your sugar pills), and started a new pack the very next day. If either one of these scenarios is correct, you would have been protected by the pill and you do not need to take Plan B. However, if you waited longer than seven days before starting a new pack, or if you missed any pills or took them later than you normally do, the risk for pregnancy is higher and Plan B use might provide further protection.
When you are taking your active pills (the first three weeks of pills in each pack), hormones build up in your body to provide contraceptive protection through the seven days of your sugar pill week. Just don’t forget to start a new pack the very next day after you’ve taken your last sugar pill or waited the seven days (without taking your sugar pills). When you are on the pill and taking your active pills on time, contraceptive protection is continuous. You are not at higher risk for pregnancy during your first seven hormone pills of each pack.
