The birth control pills are effective after 7 days of consecutive use. If you have been taking your pills correctly & consistently for 2 weeks, you are protected from pregnancy. It is unlikely that pregnancy would occur. When taken correctly & consistently, birth control pills are 96 to 98 % effective at preventing pregnancy.

Keep in mind that it can take up to 3-4 months for your body to become adjusted to being on the pill. You may experience some irregular bleeding or spotting, and your periods may be a little earlier or later.  After the adjustment time, you should have regular monthly periods during the inactive (sugar) pills of your pill pack.

Family Planning Plus clinics offer gynecological exams, birth control, Plan B and pregnancy testing at little to no cost, depending on your household size & income. STD screenings are free for men & women of all ages. Please feel free to schedule an appointment at any of our clinic locations.
