I’ve had sex once since my last period and we used a condom. I have been on the pill for a little over 3 years and take it regularly everyday. I am having pink discharge a week and a half before I’m supposed to get my next period. I’ve never had spotting in my life and have had no problems with the birth control I am on. Why is this happening?

If you are taking your birth control pills correctly & consistently, you should not have to worry about pregnancy. Some women may have a little mid-cycle spotting. This spotting is usually light pink in color and thin. It occurs in the middle of your pill pack (or cycle). For some women mid-cycle spotting occurs monthly, for other women, it occurs infrequently.

If your mid cycle spotting continues or becomes heavier, contact your doctor or clinic. They may suggest changing your birth control pills or having an infection check.
