Anytime you have unprotected sex, there is the possibility of pregnancy. If you are frequently missing your birth control pills, you cannot rely on them for protection. Missing even 1 or 2 pills can decrease the effectiveness enough to allow ovulation to occur.
Wait for your next period. In the meantime, do not have unprotected intercourse. If your next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregnancy test.
After your next period comes, start a new cycle of pills and take them correctly & consistently. Set reminders, like your daily cell phone alarm, to remind you to take them. Ask your partner to remind you about your pills. If you are not able to remember a daily pill, you might want to consider switching to another birth control method that you do not need to take on a daily basis. Call your doctor or clinic to discuss your options.
Family Planning Plus clinics offer gynecological exams, birth control, Plan B and pregnancy testing at little to no cost, depending on your household size & income. STD screenings are free for men & women of all ages. Please feel free to schedule an appointment at any of our clinic locations.
