Anytime you have unprotected sex, there is the possibility of pregnancy.
Plan B contains the hormone progesterone. One of the ways it helps prevent pregnancy is by delaying ovulation. When taken within 24-72 hours after unprotected intercourse, it can be about 80% effective at preventing pregnancy. After taking Plan B, you may experience some irregular bleeding or spotting. Your next period may be a little earlier or later than usual. It may be lighter, heavier or spottier than normal. If your next period is more than 1 week late, then do a pregnancy test.
Family Planning Plus clinics offer gynecological exams, birth control, Plan B and pregnancy testing at little to no cost, depending on your household size & income. STD screenings are free for men & women of all ages. Please feel free to schedule an appointment at any of our clinic locations.
