Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy. If your pregnancy test were negative, then you were correct in starting the birth control pills. You must take the birth control pills for 7 days in a row before they are effective. You must take them each day, around the same time each day to continue its protection.
There is no evidence that birth control pills harm a pregnancy or fetus. If your next period is late or absent, contact your doctor.
