It is not necessary for your partner to seek treatment. Routine UTI’s are not sexually transmitted nor is it likely for them to cause mouth infections. However, being infected with an STD like chlamydia or gonorrhea can cause symptoms like burning and pain with urination, especially in men.
Urinary tract infections may be caused by oral sex. Friction can cause irritation of the urethra. Normal routine mouth flora can enter into the urethra and cause irritation.
Taking medications, if ordered, increasing your fluids and abstaining from sex for a few days are some ways to help treat a urinary tract infection. If you have concerns about STDs consider scheduling an STD screening for you and your partner.
