If you had sex within the first 24 hours after your first Depo injection, pregnancy is possible. However, if you started your shot while you had your period or just after, pregnancy would be less likely. Contact the provider who prescribed your Depo for his/her advice on whether or not you need a pregnancy test and the best time to take the test.
If the sex occurred at least 24 hours after your first injection, pregnancy is unlikely.
It is important to note that the most common side effect of the Depo-Provera shot is irregular periods. Many women who start the Depo shot stop getting their periods altogether and they do not have any bleeding at all as long as they are getting their shots on time. Some women just have irregular periods while others get their periods every three months. Your missed period is most likely a result of this side effect, especially if you started your shot with your period.
