After 3 weeks (21 days), it is unknown how effective the Nuvaring would continue to be. If you haven’t already, remove your vaginal ring. Your period may be later than usual. However, as an extra precaution against pregnancy, you may want to consider taking the emergency contraceptive, Plan B. Plan B helps prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation. It is available for purchase over the counter at most pharmacies for women 17 and older. Women under 17 require a prescription.
After 7 days of no ring, insert a new one as you normally would. Insert a new vaginal ring even if you have not gotten a period. Write or set yourself a reminder: 3 weeks in, 1 week out.
