Brown vaginal discharge can be normal, especially at the beginning or end of a period. Dark brown discharge is usually old blood that did come out during the previous period. Additionally, your body need to adjust to not being on the birth control pills anymore, so it may take 1-3 months for normal periods to return on a monthly basis.
