Most men do not have any symptoms of sexually transmitted infections and their semen appears normal. The most likely possibility is that you are seeing his semen mixed with some pink spotting from your vagina. Spotting after intercourse can be a normal, occasional occurrence. However, if you are having persistent bloody spotting after intercourse, this may be a symptom of a vaginal infection.
You and your partner may want to consider being screened for sexually transmitted infections. STD screenings consist of testing for chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV and syphilis. Chlamydia and gonorrhea testing is done either by urine specimen (for men & women) or by a cervical swab (women only). A blood sample is obtained for HIV & syphilis testing. If a woman is having symptoms, a vaginal infection check may be done. If any result is positive, the clinic will offer treatment.
Family Planning Plus clinics offer free STD screenings for men and women of all ages. Please feel free to schedule an appointment at any of our clinic locations.
