Intercourse that occurs just before, during or just after the menstrual period is unlikely to result in pregnancy. The spotting you experienced is most likely the tail end of your period. If you are attempting pregnancy and have regular 28 day cycles, you are most likely to become pregnant around day 14 (with day 1 being the first day of your period).
