I have been on loestrin 24fe for a month and 16 days now. I have taken it perfectly at the same time every night and I haven’t missed any. My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex today and he pulled out before he ejaculated. Is there a chance of pregnancy? The pamphlet that came with my pills said unprotected sex was safe after 7 days if you started taking it on a Sunday which I did. Am I safe?

There is always a risk of pregnancy even when using your birth control method perfectly. However, your risk is less than 1% since your boyfriend also withdrew before ejaculation. As long as you are taking a pill around the same time every day, you have continual protection against pregnancy even during your placebo or inactive pills (the last four pills in your pack). You only need to use a back-up method (like condoms) for the first seven days of your very first pack, not subsequent packs.
