i have had the same partner for 3 years and never had any problems, all pap smears have been fine. i have read that you could have hiv for a couole if years without knowing. is it possible that i could have hiv from past partners and not know?

Yes, it is very possible. That’s why it’s so important to be tested. People infected with HIV who have not yet been tested are usually unaware of their HIV infection and may be unknowingly spreading the virus to others. It is estimated that approximately 20% of all HIV-infected individuals are unaware that they are infected. If you live near one of our offices, please call us for a free STD screening; this visit will provide you with free testing for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and HIV. If you live further away, contact the HIV testing facility nearest you. If your partner has not yet been tested, urge him/her to be tested as well.
