Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy. Taking Plan B is about 75% to 80% effective at preventing pregnancy. Plan B helps prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation. It is not effective as a long term method of birth control. Additionally, frequent use of Plan B can actually increase your risk of pregnancy because of the way it works.
If your next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregancy test. Consider beginning a long term method of birth control like birth control pills or the DepoProvera injection.
