If you are in your first year of Depo-Provera use, menstrual irregularities are extremely common and can occur at any time, regardless of what you’re doing. These irregularities include spotting or bleeding at any time, no bleeding at all, heavy and/or frequent bleeding, and irregular periods. So, if you are in your first year of use, the bleeding is normal. If you have been using the Depo for a year or more and you don’t normally have this type of bleeding, contact the provider who prescribed your Depo for further instruction.
