My boyfriend came inside me last night for the first time and I am on the pill. The only reason I worry is because two days ago I forgot to take the pill, so yesterday before intercourse, I took two. I’m just wondering if its less effective since I took it a day late, and if I should get plan B today? Help!!

When you do not take your pills correctly & consistently, it will decrease their effectiveness. You did take the forgotten pill, so that is good. I assume you are continuing to take your pills every day. Overall, the risk of pregnancy is probably low, but it could be possible.

Taking Plan B would have been an option. Plan B is most effective when taken within 24-72 hours after unprotected intercourse. Research shows that it can also be effective  when take as long as 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected intercourse. After 5 days, it’s probably ineffective and not worth taking.

Continue taking your pills every day. If your next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregnancy test.

Family Planning Plus clinics offer gynecological exams, birth control, Plan B and pregnancy testing at little to no cost, depending on your household size & income. STD screenings are free for men & women of all ages. Please feel free to schedule an appointment at any of our clinic locations.
