Anytime you have unprotected sex, there is the risk of pregnancy.
Plan B, when taken within 24-72 hours after unprotected intercourse is approximately 80% effective at preventing pregnancy. One of the ways Plan B does this is by delaying ovulation. So, do not have any unprotected intercourse until your next period.
After taking Plan B, it is normal to experience some irregular bleeding or spotting. Your next period may come a little earlier or later than usual. It may be lighter, heavier or spottier than normal. If your next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregnancy test.
Family Planning Plus clinics offer gynecological exams, birth control, pregnancy testing and Plan B at little to no cost, depending on your household size & income. STD screenings are free for men & women of all ages. Please feel free to schedule an appointment at any of our clinic locations.
