So I have had an abortion before, and what I believe to hve had a miscarriage or two. My period has always been strange. But if I started spotting he night my boyfriend came in me, and I still have weird bleeding patterns here and there, does that mean I am pregnant?

Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy. Irregular spotting or bleeding is not an indication of pregnancy. It is more of an indication of irregular menstrual cycles. If your periods have been irregular for a long time, you may have a hormonal imbalance. This is something your doctor could check on by ordering blood work.

The problem with irregular cycles, is that it is very difficult, if not impossible to know when your fertile time (ovulation) is.

Schedule an appointment with your doctor or clinic to discuss your menstrual history. You may want to consider starting a long term birth control method like birth control pills. These will not only give you pregnancy prevention, but will also help regulate your cycle.

Family Planning Plus clinics offer gynecological exams and birth control for little to no cost, depending on your household size and income. You are welcome to schedule an appointment at any of our 4 clinic locations.
