Anytime you have unprotected intercourse or a condom failure, there is the risk of pregnancy. Taking Plan B within 24 hours after unprotected intercourse helps to decrease the risk of pregnancy by 75 to 80%.
Because Plan B contains hormones, your partner’s next period may be a little earlier or later than usual. Her period may be lighter, heavier or spottier than usual. If her next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregnancy test.
