I take my birth control pills religiously( exactly the same time EVERY day), but had been on placebo week and also taking amoxicillin for 10days (3 pills daily). The day after I finished the antibiotics, i had intercourse and the frigging condom broke. My boyfriend didn’t ejaculate inside me. I haven’t taken Plan B. This is day 4 since the condom had broken. I have continued religiously taking my birth control pills. I know that antibiotics can interact with the effectiveness of the pill. What are the chances of being pregnant? When should I take a pregnancy test and have it be accurate???

Some antibiotics can interfere with the effectiveness of your birth control pills. How much of a decrease it causes is unknown. The concern is whether or not the effectiveness is lowered enough to allow a break through ovulation to occur. Taking the majority of the antibiotic during your placebo pills was probably helpful. It is good that you started a new pack on time, and that you take your pills consistently. Plan B would not be effective at this point.

If your next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregnancy test.
