Nausea is very common during the first few months of pill use. This is because your body is not yet used to the new hormone levels. Be sure not to take your pill on an empty stomach. Eating something before you take your pill should decrease this side effect. Another common side effect of the pill during the first few months of use is a missed period or other menstrual irregularities.
It is best to either abstain from sex or use condoms during the first week of pill use. Though you used withdrawal, pre-ejaculatory fluid can leak out of the penis prior to ejaculation. This fluid can contain sperm, and thus, cause a pregnancy.
Continue to take your pills as directed (around the same time every day). If you miss two periods in a row, take a pregnancy test. Do not stop taking your pills unless you test positive for pregnancy.
