If you do not take your birth control pills correctly & consistently, then they will not be effective at preventing pregnancy. If you are a new starter, you must take at least 7 consecutive days of the pill before it is effective. If you did not take them correctly, do not rely on the pills for protection. It would be wise to use a back up method of birth control, like condoms or abstinence, for the remainder of the pill pack.
Continue taking your pills. Set the daily alarm on your cell phone as a reminder to take your pills regularly. If your next period is more than 1 week late, do a pregnancy test.
