Plan B is not meant to be used for multiple sex acts that take place over several days, nor is it meant to be used frequently. Rather, it is meant to be used in emergency situations when your regular birth control fails (for example, your condom breaks) or when you slip up and simply don’t use contraception. Plan B works by quickly changing your body’s hormone levels which then delays ovulation (the monthly release of an egg) by a few days. You should use Plan B as soon as possible after the unprotected sex. If you happened to ovulate before or somewhere in the middle of your multiple sex acts, Plan B probably would not have worked and you may become pregnant. However, Plan B may also have some effect on preventing fertilization and implantation. Plan B is not 100% effective, but it can reduce your risk of pregnancy.
If you skip your next period, take a pregnancy test. Repeat the test every two weeks until you have a normal period or a positive test result.
