Here in the United States, the only injectable contraceptive is the DepoProvera injection. It is injected into the body either intramuscularly or subcutaneously. The DepoProvera is effective within 24 hours after the first injection. The medication is lasts for up to 13 weeks. When the injections are received on time, the effectiveness rate of the DepoProvera is 99.9% . If a woman misses an injection or is persistently late for her injections, her birth control protection will be compromised.
If it was at least 24 hours after your first shot, or if you have been receiving your injections on time, your risk of pregency would be extremely low.
If you have been consistently late for your shots or if you are currently past due for your shot, your birth control may be questionable. If you were to become pregnant from this incident, you would not have a positive urine pregnancy test for at least 3-4 weeks. Taking laxatives after unprotected intercourse has no effect on whether or not you become pregnant. Laxatives do not prevent sperm from reaching the uterus. Sperm are very fast swimmers. By time a laxative would take effect, sperm have already traveled up into the uterus. This is also why douching is not a good birth control method.
If you are still concerned, contact your doctor or clinic for more information.
