Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is the risk of pregnancy. When first starting the birth control pills, it takes at least 7 days of consistent use before they are active. After only 3 days of pill use, it is unlikely that you were protected from pregnancy.
The chance of pregnancy will depend on where you were at within your menstrual cycle when you started the pills and had unprotected sex. If you were in the middle of your cycle, when ovulation normally occurs, the chance of pregnancy is high. If you started your pills during or right after your period, then the chance would be lower. The time right beforeĀ and during your period should be your least fertile time.
Continue taking your pills correctly and consistently. If your next period is more than 1 week late, return to your doctor or clinic for a pregnancy test.
