You should have used a condom in addition to the patch for the first seven days. Since you did not, pregnancy is possible. Since you just started a hormonal method, you may notice some menstrual irregularities during the first few months of use. This could include a missed period. If you miss two periods in a row, take a pregnancy test. Keep using your patch as directed. Though it is best not to use unnecessary medications during pregnancy, research shows no increased risk of birth defects for women who become pregnant while using a hormonal method.
