Is it possible to have a period and be pregnant? On dec 1 I had unprotected sex, he pulled out, I took plan b 6-7 hours later My period usually comes on the 22, but I had my period or period like bleeding on dec. 14 that lasted until the 17, it was a medium flow with a lot of clots. Jan. 10-16 I had my period, I had a lot of clots which lead to medium flow that was constant. I am nervous because usually my periods are really heavy the first few days and they haven’t been heavy for 2 months. Sometimes my stomach feels tight specially on my left side and uncomfortable setpecially when im sleeping, sometimes I get random cramps/twitches, once in a while I feel nauseous. I took a pregnancy test dec. 22 and got a negative. I haven’t had sex after that.

Plan B helps prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation. Plan B may cause your periods to occur earlier or later than usual. Your bleeding may be lighter, heavier or spottier than usual. Since you had period like bleeding in January, it is unlikely that you are pregnant.

If you are not planning a pregnancy, you may want to consider starting a long term birth control method like the pill, Depo shot, patch, etc.  Correct and consistent condom use can also be an effective method of preventing pregnancy.

Family Planning clinics offer free STD screenings. Gynecological exams and birth control are offerred at little to no cost, depending on household size & income.
